Mini Maestros is a unique pre-school music program written and developed by Barbara Allen, a music educator with over 20 years experience, in response to the need for a "grass roots" approach to Music education for pre-schoolers.

With an emphasis on practical music making and developing an understanding of the fundamentals of music, Mini Maestros incorporates games, dance, hand puppets, crafts and tactile experiences to bring a "whole" approach to the musical learning experience for 2-5 years olds.

Children are introduced to the pitched and non-pitched instruments of the orchestra and learn to identify the basic constituents of theory such as whole, half, quarter and eighth notes through themed lessons. Listening skills are developed through an imaginative use of classical music and hand/eye co-ordination through the playing of percussion instruments, following picture percussion charts and learning to keep a steady beat. Since its inception in 1998, Mini Maestros has succeeded in building self esteem and self confidence in the young children who have participated in the program.
