Since May 29, 2004 the Pasadena Tabernacle, "community outrach committee" in conjunction with the Pasadena ARC has been helping to feed the homeless and indigent here in Pasadena. This ministry is comprised of all volunteers from the Tab and the ARC.
Every Saturday morning at 7:30 am, the Tab's fully self-contained canteen pulls up to the ARC kitchen and loads up with an already prepared breakfast. This breakfast varies but usually consists of waffles, oatmeal, toast, sausage, orange juice and fresh fruit. The vehicle departs the ARC and arrives at Memorial Park in Pasadena and we start serving at 8:00 am.
We first started serving a population of 30 people; this number has now swelled to close to 90 people. We have people who walk the community to search for those who don't know about our services or are to ill to walk to the canteen. At this time, we have several homeless women who are too sick to walk to us so we deliver the food to them.
We always offer to pray with the clients and also give referrals to different agencies if the clients need them. Mainly we try to greet everyone with a smile and a nourishing breakfast.
