Mission Statement
The Salvation Army Pasadena ARC serves men and women of the central San Gabriel Valley who have social, emotional and spiritual needs and who have lost the ability to cope with their problems. These men and women may be handicapped mentally, morally, physically, socially and spiritually.

The Pasadena ARC affords them the opportunity to gain insights into their problems while acquiring self-respect and developing moral and spiritual principles of conduct and habits of industry that will enable them to gain purpose and meaning in their lives.

Admission
The men seeking help will be interviewed to determine if they:

  • Have a valid picture ID
  • Have a social security card
  • Are between the ages of 18 and 60
  • Are in good physical health
  • Are willing to admit the need for rehabilitation to overcome their problem
  • Agree to participate in the entire program, including work therapy
  • Are free of intoxication from alcohol and drugs
  • Referral sources include social service agencies, clergy, physicians, families, the courts and employers

Work Therapy
In this program, work therapy is integral to rehabilitation – helping residents build a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem while developing a positive work ethic.

Also offered aside from work therapy are the following:

  • Testing and evaluation
  • Chemical Dependency classes
  • Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous & Nicotine Anonymous Meetings
  • Weekly group therapy meetings and individual counseling
  • Drug testing to ensure an alcohol, nicotine and drug free environment
  • Vocational – Literacy – Recreational – Christian living activities

Support Programs
All the men in the program are encouraged to support each other. The variety of support programs here include:

  • Twelve Step Meetings
  • AA, NA, CA Meetings
  • Bible Study Groups
  • Christian Worship Services
  • Spiritual Counseling
  • Job Search Development
  • Discussion Groups

Beneficiaries are encouraged to participate in the programs that will meet their needs. Attendance is required at some meetings, including worship services.

The ARC is a program that wants to help men focus on their recovery by providing the means whereby they can achieve spiritual, physical and emotional health, one day at a time.

Located at 56 West Del Mar Blvd. in Pasadena, the Salvation Army ARC is a modern facility dedicated to rebuilding lives.

The Men's Residence includes:

  • 107 Beds
  • Full Cafeteria Facilities & Canteen
  • Recreation & Hobby Rooms
  • Weight Training Room
  • Television and Multimedia Rooms
  • Library and Computer Center
  • Counseling Center
  • 332-seat Chapel which provides a place of reflection and meditation

The services provided by the ARC after admittance are as follows:

  • Medical, Dental & Optical assistance
  • Supervised Residence
  • Spiritual Counseling
  • Psychological Counseling
  • Inspirational & Educational Opportunities
  • Work Therapy
  • Planned Leisure Activities

A cash allowance is granted to the men accepted into the program for personal needs.

The program emphasizes self-help. Beneficiaries are involved in contributing to the daily operation of the Center. New skills are learned, old habits are unlearned. The men participate in a work therapy environment.

The Salvation Army provides professional counseling, substance abuse education, occupational therapy and a disciplined approach to the problem of addictive behaviors.
